Teams

Latest / last-minute updates are still being posted on the home page under announcements.

This page is being updated for 2021-22 training year. Additional info will come as they become available.

Frequent updates may be inevitable in the COVID environment.
We plan to capture latest updates from each team below.

Marching Band

Status: Band continues to conduct weekly practices online with a focus on individual coaching and self-improvement. The band meets weekly on Mondays from 1900-2000 hrs.

Cadets who are interested in joining the band and own their own instruments are welcome to join the band. Interested cadets should complete this form.

Flag Party

Status: Flag party will practice in-person when able. Online resources will also be used.

Details to follow.

Pilot Training (Ground School)

Status: Power and Glider Training Courses may be offered next summer pending further communications.

Ground school will be delivered virtually after 1 Oct, 21. More details to come.

Drone Training (Ground School & Flight Training)

Status: There may be opportunities later in the training year to be trained in, and be certified for, flying drones. A Transport Canada exam is required for either Basic (age 14+) and Advanced operations (age 16+). Ground school material and a gap (drone-specific) package will be useful in attempting the exam. The exams are known to be challenging and have a pass score of 65% for Basic and 80% for Advanced operations.

Attend the ground school to gain the background knowledge before continuing onto the gap package and flight training. Flight review opportunities, for granting Advanced operations pilot certificate, may be provided to those who passed the Advanced operations exam.

Effective Speaking Team

Status: The Effective Speaking program provides an opportunity for cadets to learn, practice and improve the necessary skills in being a successful public speaker where cadets get the opportunity to deliver prepared and impromptu speeches.

To further enhance their effective speaking skills, cadets will learn from an instructor from Toastmasters International to write, organize, structure, present, deliver and evaluate speeches delivered by peers.

Cadets will also have the opportunity to gain leadership experience, as there will be nominations and elections for some leadership positions on the Effective Speaking team.

Effective Speaking sessions will take place virtually every Tuesday from November to January.

Debate Team

Status: Debate Team is scheduled to start after Effective Speaking (Jan 2022) utilizing a virtual platform.
