National Course

National courses are scholarship courses for Level 3+ cadets with a selection process.

The 351 Silver Star Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron is located in the vibrant community of Unionville, within the City of Markham, Ontario.

All of our cadet activities are supervised by screened adults. In order to continue to provide a safe and encouraging environment for our cadets, we need your help. Many of our staffs are parents of cadets with no previous experience. Contact us now to get involved.

Fall Tagging
17 Oct 19
Fall tag days will take place on the weekend of 18-20 Oct 2019. All donations and fundraising from the tagging weekend supports cadet activities such as permits, buses, tours, excursions, weekend field trips, and much more.

Sign-up Requirement:
- New Recruits: 1 shift
- Other cadets: at least 2 shifts
* Cadets who have missed shifts in previous tag days are to make up for their missed shifts this season

Dress: C3 (tunic & tie). Cadet issued parka or appropriate civilian jacket is authorized.

Wearing of the poppies

Poppies are to be worn from last Friday of Oct (25 Oct) to 11 Nov. Position as follows:

Cadets who have questions about wearing their poppies should approach their senior cadets.

Marksmanship Days
07 Oct 19
351 will hold 2 marksmanship days on Sat 2 & Sun 3 Nov at Blackdown CTC, Borden ON.

Level 1-4 cadets are required to attend 1 of the 2 days as part of their mandatory training. Sign up by Mon 21 Oct; permission forms by Thu 24 Oct.

Any dietary restrictions submitted past 21 Oct cannot be accommodated by Blackdown CTC.

Final Fall Gliding Day
07 Oct 19
The final opportunity for fall gliding will be on 27 Oct 19 at Markham CFS.

Gliding will be offered in AM and PM sessions. AM transport will depart Bur Oak Secondary School and require parental pick up at Markham Airport. PM session will require parental drop off  at Markham Airport and cadets will be returned to Bur Oak Secondary School for pick up.

Each cadet should attend one glider flight each year as part of their aviation training.
* Cadets who have been on a glider flight this training year may be placed on waitlist until closer to the activity date.

Drill Team / Sports / Biathlon time change

In order to better utilize sunlight Sports and Biathlon and Sports team will be moved up to 1830 - 2000 hrs; while Drill Team will run 2000 - 2200 hrs until end of Oct.

Any further update will be communicated directly by the team CPIs.

Drill Team will NOT be taking Level 1s until later in the year. Level 1s will learn their drill as part of their Thursday nights.

Level 1s interested in team sports can drop by Franklin Street Public School Fri 1830 hrs.

All Friday teams are cancelled Fri 4 Oct due to the FTX.

Marksmanship Team 2019-20

Past members interested in this year's marksmanship team and train the next generation of athletes should express interest by signing up.

New members will be accepted after the marksmanship day. Cadets showing potential will go through a series of focused training in preparation for the squadron selection (phase 1). 15 cadets will be selected to represent 351 in 3 teams for the zone competition on Sat 22 Feb (phase 2). Advancing teams will be competing in regional on Fri 17 - Sun 19 Apr (phase 3). National (phase 4) will be in May. 6 members will be junior members who are under age 15 by May 2020.

Regular marksmanship team practices will be on Wed evenings and Sat evenings until Apr. Regular attendance is critical to maintaining performance and is therefore expected.

Selected competition team members must be able to attend Zone comp on Sat 22 Feb.

New Dress Instructions

The Cadet Dress Instructions has been updated. Please take a few moments to familiarize yourselves with the changes. Some dress numbers have been reassigned (e.g. C-2, C-3, C-8).

Cadets with with ill-fitting uniform parts can submit requests for exchange for a size that fits from the dashboard: Click Exchange at the bottom of the dashboard under Supply.
Make sure your dress is up to standard before the new training year.

Dress Regulations

Cadets no longer with the squadron should return their washed uniform on supply or parade night and include the return form.

Mandatory Training

Mandatory trainings are required to advance a cadet's career and include:

Attendance is strictly required.

Gliding Days

Cadets get an intro flight in a glider, learn about flying, and have some outdoor sports fun.
